FTP calculation from CP20 test

Post by wakkowarner » Thu Jan 10, 2019 1:49 pm

After doing a first CP20 test with the workout included in the Tacx cycling app for iOS, the app calculated a FTP value of 170 watts, from 179 watts for the TOTAL workout, including warm up and cool down. But shouldn't the FTP be calculated from the 20 minutes effort only? If I look at that segment in e.g. GoldenCheetah it shows an average of 254 watts, wich would result in a FTP of about 240 watts using the 95% modifier?

Absolutely correct - and Tacx have known about it for ages (I got an email from Support last year telling me so). What’s more we can’t get the average power for that period to calculate it ourselves, and nowhere in the activity analysis in the app or the cloud does it show the calculated FTP (even though its wrong). So unless you remember it from the test, thats it lost!

Can’t understand why such a simple but important thing doesn’t get fixed in a routine update.
