New full installer

Post by Alex Masalovich » Thu Oct 11, 2018 11:15 am

Suddenly there was a new full installer. It is available at two addresses:
http://tacxdata.com/TTS/TTS42300.zip
http://tacx.com/support/TTS42300.zip
Zip archive size - 4.95 GB
It is surprising that the specified version is 4.23. However, on the patches page, the latest version is still 4.22.7:

Curious. Seems like Tacx has traditionally released new updates on Friday, so maybe the update was posted prematurely.

Amazing. After all this time has past and so many users have called it quits they finally come out with an easy full install where you don't have to go through hours of updates to get to the final version. No I have not tried it because I have the 4.22.7 working well. And I have disconnected the PC used with the software from the internet so nothing ever corrupts it. Unless there is something in the latest version that offers more options I'm happy to stay with what works. Kudos to Tacx for finally working on this and simplifying it for future use.

Question to support:
Hi, @TacxSupport! What's new in version TTS 4.23 compared to version 4.22.7?

Response:
Thank you for your question.
There is actually no difference in the software between these two versions.
The 4.23 version does not require to update from 4.21 to 4.22.7 when installed, it has the updates already installed.

Today I installed new 1809 Win10 edition and the Fullinstaller.

Worked very good, failed dotnet-installation (could be in 1809) and the end was not indicated.

The welcome windows says version 4.23.0 also the help-info-window.

I rode the Brugges video - very nice. Tried VR - very nice Kriterium metroplitian in christmas time.

So I have a PC with 2 SSD ( 1 with 1809 and TTS4.23.0 / 1 with 1709 and TTS4.22.7 ) and 1 SSD for clubmangement and 1 1TB SSHD for all my Tacx Videos. The hardware is an Asus mainboard with A10 quadcore / 8GB DDR4 memory / nividia GTX 750 TI with 2GB DDR5 .

So I hope this configuration will remain the next 10 years.

I also have installed TTS4.23 and find it works very nicely indeed except for the fact that will not upload to Strava directly. I have to export the activity as a tcx file and then manually import it into Strava. It does not always do it well. I often get duplicate entries. However when I then go from Strava to Garmin Connect, the file uploads perfectly. I have contacted Tacx support last week and they replied that it is a known issue and they are working on it.

Very useful info, I have an install to do in the next few days as I sold my old trustworthy iMagic to a friend. I had found an earlier install file, limiting the number of updates required; a direct no-updates installer is even better.

Fianlly tried it - no success. It generated an error about another install already being in progress, which was weird since this was my first attempt. I ended up using the one on tacx.com/tacx-trainer-software-download/, it's 4.20 (actually loads 4.x and a large set of patches, the latter taking ages to install once the installer looks like it's done). I let the launcher do the 4.20-4.23 updates. It all worked, functional install, license transferred, RLVs installed. Having recentryl installed most common ANT+/BLE PC apps to test them with my new Flux S, I realize how much progress we've done since the TTS days - compare installing Zwift or SufferFest or TDA with a TTS4 install... I realize TTS4 is not supported anymore, but the simple absence of a "Download me!" button on tacx.com downloading the current version, and the presence of a loader checking updates each time you start the app tells you the age of the whole thing. Born on a CD.
