Disable power management to usb

Post by hamsey » Tue Oct 22, 2013 5:34 pm

There use to be a thread about disabling power management for usb. I did the device manager but I remember that there is another area to disable power management but cannot remember where. Anybody remember where the other spot is?

It's in the USB section in Device Manager. It is done a port at a time.

Are you having USB issues? I think this is usually not the cause, but standard advice is to set the USB port not to turn off to save power.

For ANT+ trainers, most USB issues are caused by not using a USB cable. Sometimes USB ports on the front of the machine are not as reliable.

Already did the usb ports in device manager. I thought that there was another place besides device manager to manage usb power on/off.

I think that is it unless there are settings in your PC's BIOS, but that should not be necessary.

Be sure you do not having any Power Saving program setup that turns things like your monitor and hard disk off.

What problems are you having?

Have not given it a go yet since installing new HD. Just making the changes that I can remember. Already setup my custom power plan that leaves everything on.

Do you mean here...

Control Panel - Power Options - Change Advanced Power Options - USB Settings - USB Selective Suspend Setting (Disable)
