I still have TTS3 loaded and it still works despite no updates in a long time.
I assume that is with a legacy trainer such as a Fortius or non-smart Bushido, Flow, or Genius, as I recall support for ANT+ FE-C required for the smart trainers wasn't introduced until long after support for TTS 3 had ended.

Some Tacx smart trainers are bilingual, they are able to speak on a closed ANT+ protocol.

So you are referring to the original batch of the semi Smart trainers which were bluetooth/tablet specific? My understanding is that the Smart Trainers are fluent in ANT+ FE-C as well as the private Bluetooth protocol that TDA uses, but not legacy private ANT+ used for the non-smart trainers.

So you are referring
I mean the following: a number of smart trainers have two processors, one of which has the same firmware as the same name non-smart trainers.

By the way, Flux has firmware from Vortex. So maybe even Flux will connect to TTS3. I would not be surprised.

MS6073 is correct. TTS3 does not work with Tacx Smart trainers. TTS3 only works with the USB Imagic/Flow, USB Fortius, and the original proprietary ANT+ Bushido, Genius and Vortex. The problem is there are no drivers in TTS3 for any of the Smart trainers and there is no way to select them on the Device screen. I don't think you can simply copy the dll driver files for TTS3 from TTS4, but I have not actually tried that. The code needed would be not only the driver files, but modification to the device selection screen in TTS3.

P.S. I tried connecting a Vortex Smart and a Flow Smart to TTS3 and there was no way to do it. Even if I selected Vortex or Flow in TTS3, TTS3 would not find the Vortex Smart or Flow Smart, so I am quite sure it would not work with any of the other Smart brakes either.

For the experiment, you need to use another firmware, an earlier one.
I do not have TTS3 (and smart trainer) and I do not have the opportunity to refute you.

I don't think so. If you are suggesting that firmware designed for a non-Bluetooth device be installed in a Bluetooth-capable device, then you are asking to make a brick out of it. That would be a reckless experiment.

You just forgot. This has already been successfully verified by users in practice:

It looks like you are correct. It appears that the Vortex firmware covers both Smart and older non-Smart models. But I would still be surprised if older firmware will make a Smart Vortex compatible compatible with TTS3. In order for a Vortex brake to work with TTS3, it must talk to the Vortex handlebar unit, which in effect relays the data to TTS3. This is different than the way TTS4, where the brake and handlebar computer talk independently to the PC.

Of course, how could I forget about it!

You are right, and this is true not only about Vortex, but also about Bushido. And for Genius would need an interface.
