Changing cassette on NEO

Post by halfpint » Wed Mar 28, 2018 11:50 am

Hi all,

Would really appreciate some advice, its probably very simple but I am struggling. I brought a secondhand NEO which is amazing, but it came with 10 speed SRAM cassette fitted. I would like to switch to an 11 speed shimano to use a different bike. I cannot get the flipping thing off! Using a shimano locking ring which looks like it fits an chain whip but no movement.

From the manuals not sure if I need to use a Campag lock ring to loosen it? But that doesn't look like it would fit.

Other question is could I use the 11 speed shimano bike on the 10 speed sram cassette?

Thanks in advance

This is not really an answer, but up until this year, the Neo was supplied with an Edco Multisys freehub, which when the Neo was first introduced, the first couple production run's were supplied only with Campagnolo style lock rings. After that, I want to say that Tacx then started supplying Shimano/SRAM lock rings and beginning in late 2016, both Shimano/SRAM, and Campy compatible lock rings were supplied. For 2018, I believe Tacx has gone away from the Edco Multisys freehub and now offers the Neo in an either/or package, providing dedicated Shimano/SRAM, or Campy freehubs and lock-rings.

Unfortunately the spacing is a tad narrower for 11-speed so only a couple gears would shift reliably.

thank you for your helpful response.

from looking at the grooves on the locking ring it appears to match the Shimano locking ring, maybe I am just being a bit feeble!
