Bushido Smart or legacy Bushido? From the range of questions, it sounds as if you might have a older legacy Tacx T1980 Bushido which is not ANT+ FE-C compatible. As for connections, regardless of which type of Bushido, although the trainer can be connected to apps such as TTS, no devices actually 'connects' to the Bushido.
TTS 4.19.1 | T2800 NEO Smart [formerly Bushido & Fortius]

GeForce GTX 870M | 256 GB SSD x 2 RAID 0 + 1 TB HDD

I have the bushido smart
When running standard Zwift - the trainer does change resistance when the terrain/elevation changes - it also reads the power and cadence (although i have a separate cadencewith my bike setup)
With the above i believe the issue is that the FE-C option is not released from the TACX and thus not allowing zwift to select it during setup and hence no ERG mode

Nope. Unlike Bluetooth LE, ANT+ FE-C is connection agnostic so as long as only one app at a time is trying to control the trainer, it should not be an issue.
