Tacx Vortex maxing at 50 watts

Post by jjsteane » Mon Feb 12, 2018 10:09 pm

Hi,

I’m hoping someone can help me out, I have a Tacx Vortex T2180 that was working fine but no after 5 minutes of use it maxes out at 40-50 watts regardless of effort.

I’ve checked tyre pressure and calibration and I’ve updated firmware as well as deleting and reinstalling the Tacx app. The issue occurs whether on Tacx or Zwift and whether connected via Bluetooth or Ant+

I’ve scoured the internet but cannot find a resolution and Tacx support simply said it was a calibration issue. Has anyone experienced something similar? Can anyone help

Thanks in advance

If the Vortex resistance decreased to 50-watts after only 5-minutes, then I am going to assume the Vortex is not longer functioning correctly and might need to be replaced. Just to cover the bases, what was the tire pressure? Should be 8 bar or higher (115-120 psi). Have you run the calibration from the Tacx Utility app as well as used the Utility apps dashboard that would allow you to simply pedal at varying cadences to check max wattage?

Thanks for the reply

I have a support ticket raised with Tacx and the only response I've had so far is to ask what the tire pressure is at and they advised max 8 bar? Either way it's at 110psi and I've run the calibration from the Tacx app numerous times

I haven't run the apps dashboard, is that the dashboard option in the menu on the Tacx Utility app?

Yes. If calibration is proper and resistance wont yield more than 50-watts from the start, then it is time to seek a warranty replacement of the Vortex as there is no further user actions that will remedy the issue.
