3D GPS Rides

Post by bigskypylot » Sun Sep 30, 2018 7:11 pm

I downloaded TDA last week and in my 30 day trial I received with my NEO purchase. However, I am not seeing any option for the 3D rides. Is there an update for the laptop/Win10 version I am not aware of? Thanks!

Okay, I thought you had mentioned that it was due out shortly and thought I had missed something. Thanks!

What, describe, what 3D GPS is. Tacx website doesn't go into details and I don't install programs on my PC not knowing what they are exactly. And please leave out the sales hype, just explain how it works exactly.

I thought you were the official Tacx troll? we even made a special section of the forum years back for your various accounts. I don't understand why you are back here when you seemed so 'unbelievably' happy with all the alternatives..

The 3D maps is 3D maps in place of a regular map of a route you have it in 3D like this

Image

Or with 3D buildings like this here

Image

as opposed to a video simulation image like this, you can at the touch of a button alternate between both, opponents & past performances show up on the map the profile or in a list just now. If you like Rouvy, Veloreality Zwift etc etc then please go & enjoy them.

I came back because this is suppose to be something "new" right. Besides you don't seem like a very good judge of character to be calling me a Troll when I have almost 20 years of experience on Tacx trainers and software. You should stick to what you know and leave the profiling of members to the professionals with psychology degrees. Thanks for deleting my posts by the way. I thought I posted legit questions but apparently not. That's one thing I think sucks so bad about this forum is people can't be honest and tell the truth. But it's your forum so have it your way. Based on what I'm seeing with the "new" update to TDA it looks to me like it's the same thing as the older option in previous software of the past. It's not what I was expecting based on your excitement leading up to the launch. Typical. Thanks for trying to offer some details about this and I will take your advise and keep training on other platforms because I don't see anything new here.

How do oyu switch to full screen? When I tried the Central Park ride, it was just a little display, so-to-speak.

Check out in the settings the custom Keybindings, there you can see the keys for every feature, I think its the left & right arrow keys though & the S key should get you the 3D map rather then a regular one.

I am a trial member by virtue of buying a NEO this past month. Does this prevent me from making a 3D GPS ride? So far it's not working for me

thanks!

I take it your on the PC version as Mac does not yet have 3D GPS? If your on the PC version open your Tacx cloud account from inside TDA by clicking 'My activitys' this will open your linked cloud account. Now click 'Create workout' on the list of workout types there is GPX, upload your GPX file & wait for it to process (can take a little while) it will ask you some options related to how smooth you want the profile & then generate the GPX workout. Now go back to TDA & the workout should be there. If its not then just click say Films & then go back to workouts..that will force a refresh of TDA.

PS If you have a free month of TDA then you have all the same options as if you have paid. You can even try 3 GPS rides in the free version

ah ok thats probably solvable, GPX files can be formatted slightly different, try uploading & then exporting your GPX workout from say Strava if you have a premium account or Ive used myself https://www.komoot.com & https://ridewithgps.com/ both seem to export good quality files. also used files directly from the Garmin. Tacx recommends a site also but Ive not used it & have forgotten which.. & cant find where it was mentioned.

I don't have Strava but I do have Ride with GPS. I uploaded to R-w-G and exported and still did not work. That was the first thing I tried

As Phil indicates, not all GPX files are created equal. Sometimes a GPX file does not conform to the required protocol. It may work for some applications and not others.

There are many, many online sites where you can obtain, convert, import, export, and test GPX bike ride files. Best thing to do a little looking around and experimenting.
