TDA doesn't simulate slope higher than ~2%

Post by gregorek » Sun Mar 10, 2019 3:38 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have recently purchased TACX flow smart and I'm testing TDA. I made about 10 rides (mostly videos) and recently I noticed that I do not feel any difference when slope is higher than around 2% (Theoretically Flow Smart should simulate up to 6%).
Today I created slope based workout where I continuously increase slope from -1,5% to 8% every 10 seconds (0,5% increment).
Power output confirms that I'm rather normal in how I perceive the load:) and fro 1,5% slope, power is no longer increasing (I tried to keep cadence stable).
I haven't tried any other apps yet to confirm if the problem is TDA related or not.
Has anyone seen such issue?

Thanks

You might want to take a look at this thread:

Achieving higher resistance (torque) levels with the Flow requires maintaining higher wheel speeds (not cadence).

Unfortunately, Tacx no longer publishes the power curves for the Flow, which illustrate the useful range for the brake.

Thank you for your reply.
That explains the issue.

Make sure you have the brake difficulty setting on 100% also (cogwheel icon).
