List of compatible Trainers

Post by chrisreb » Wed Dec 05, 2018 10:47 pm

Mt trainer is not listed as either compatible or non compatible on the manual I downloaded. Is there an exhaustive list?

It was only a few years ago I invested in a new trainer and the TTS4 software and paid out for a number of RLVs so hope my Trainer is compatible

Yes, that combination works unless you have the solid yellow-green or solid white Imagic controller, which is 32-bit OS only. It has been a while since I tried my Imagic with TTS3 and TTS4, but last time I did, it worked. I have both a W10 32-bit and 64-bit TTS3/TTS4 setup and it worked with both, but I had to use a different controller (solid blue or T1932 white with blue ring) with 64-bit OS.

Yes, but there is no compatibility with TDA. At least for the moment.

If I read the second comment correctly , when TTS4 stops working then I guess I will be looking at the trainer market so see which direction to go. If that is the case then unlikely to get another Tacx as lifespan v cost is just not a good balance. <y controller is white with blue ring but not recognised by TDA (tested this morning)

Am I reading that the TACX Flow Smart T2240 Turbo IS compatable? The reason I ask is that manual says it is T2420 but I cannot find a model with this number. Otherewise it looks like a massive cost jump to something like the Neo

What makes you think TTS4 will stop working?

The i-magic is a robust trainer, my are 15 years old. If you have a working windows basis, TTS will work without online gadgets (GPS etc.) some years as your hardware will work. I have an old laptop with Win7 that run old i-magic (green) and fortius (blue) running - if I want.

If you want something new, why not a Flux smart S? Is not so expansive as neo - and not so hard to drive. A Flow smart would work, but same as Your i-magic today. Why change?

I am happy with TTS 4 but when they stop supporting it in March I am concerned that a Windows update will break it and that will be that. Note the Flux seems better value for me than the Neo should I choose to go that way. The TDA manual says there is a T2420 whereas I can only find a T2240 - not sure if a misprint

I've run that combo (iMagic with white/blue controller, Win 10, TTS4) until approx 2 weeks ago. It works great, the brake is very reliable, the software just works. I changed over (Flux S, TDA for now) because I wanted ANT+/BT connectivity to open my options on the software side (TDA, Zwift...), but could have kept that original combo going forever I guess - until something in Win 10 would have broken it all.

Yes that is probably how I will go. However good to do the research now and if/when it all breaks I know my options, with or without Tacx.

Thanks all for comments

T2420 is a Blacktrack part number.

I have used a number of Tacx brakes over the years, including the original Imagic/Flow and the current Flow Smart brake. I give it very high marks for reliability, simplicity, noise, and price. It's main downside is it does not provide as much resistance compared to the more expensive Tacx brakes. But unless you are someone who really needs a lot, it works quite well.

OK thanks. Looking at what is about - as things stand should I have to change in the future the Tacx Flux S looks best balance (and newly released so assume longer lifespan) and even if I have to buy an Ant+ dongle for laptop looks pretty good

While not a small undertaking, I would suggest that those with this concern, create a windows virtual machine (VM) on their computer, install Windows 10 on the VM, install and license TTS on the VM, then on the VM, turn off the Windows Update service.
