Want to Buy - Broken Motor brake

Post by Frisco » Tue Feb 05, 2013 5:50 pm

I sold my Fortius to a friend, and the plastic housing on the motor brake cracked during shipment. I'm not sure how filing a claim will go and the brake seems to work, so I'm wondering if I can source the piece of plastic (service won't sell it). Does anyone have an old non-functional motor brake that they'd be interested to get rid of?

What is the model number of the motorbrake in question?

If it is the older T1941 version, I may be able to help.

It has a sticker that says Type T1941 Cosmos & Fortius...and another small sticker that says T1946.

(I'm the new owner of the Fortius)

Try and post a photo of what you need. I think my motorbrake is still fine, and hesitate to tear it apart just for a plastic endpiece.

I also had one shipping problem, I bought second hand unit. Brake was installed on frame and got some not so smooth handling. Fixing point to frame had similar fracture. I made small piece of metal and glued it in place. Attachment picture shows metal piece before and after installation. Actually connection to frame is now stiffer than original.

thanks, but it looks like the shipper will cover the claim and kram will be getting a replacement unit from the distributor

I have just found the crack in the same place on the plastic shell of the T1941 at the same point you are reinforcing it with the metal part, it's not as big as the linked photo but it's something that could grow.

My question is can I buy the outer body as a replacement on the T1941? I can't can't individual part numbers of these pieces. Thanks

I don't think Tacx makes small replacement parts available, but you could always ask support@tacx.nl. It's too bad some of this stuff is not available as the units are relatively simple to work on.
