Fortius SW will not work with my upgrade to Windows 8

Post by AGYB » Sun Jun 28, 2015 7:05 pm

I registered back in Sept 2009 and have enjoyed use of my Tacx until I upgrade my computer to Windows 8 from Windows 7, and now I can not get it to operate.
Can you advise me please how I can get it to operate now in Windows 8 /

These are user forums so I would first suggest contacting Tacx Support regarding the issue but it would help if you add some details regarding what does not work now that you upgraded but you might want to take a look at the I have a problem with the license / activation suport article. I suspect that by upgrade, you meant you upgraded to Windows 8 on the same machine. If this is the case then keep in mind that while your files and data transfer, you still need to re-install all of your software applications including TTS. So the problem is that if you did not backup your license file and deactivate TTS before you started the upgrade, then even if you reinstall TTS, Tacx support is going to have to help activate the license.

I fear that AGYP really means the legacy Fortius software, not a Fortius trainer operated under TTS. In that case and if the upgrade was to Win8 64 bit (is there a 32 bit win 8 at all? Have never seen one), the Fortius software will not run as it can only run under a 32 bit operating system. Further, the Fortius software is a legacy product that is now unsupported for a few years, so it just as well may no longer run under Win 8 with updates to date.

If the operating system is 64bit, you will need to create a virtual machine on your computer with a 32bit operating system in order to run the old software.

Yes, I there is a 32-bit installer for Windows 8/8.1 on Microsoft Developer Network but you are not likely to see it on retail or bundled systems since most systems are offered with 6 or more gigabyte of RAM, there would be no benefit compared to the 64-bit versions.
