Why is the video screen black?

Post by Tacx Video Production » Tue Sep 11, 2007 10:23 am

Your PC does not have the video codec for the direct show video decoder in the Tacx software.

Simply install the FFdshow program on the tacx DVD.

If you still have a problem try the latest ffdshow http://www.free-codecs.com/ffdshow_download.htm

If you still have a problem & its a fairly recent ride try a Xvid codec http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html

If you still have a problem & its an older RLV then you may have a corrupted Mpeg4 codec. This normally only happens with older RLVs from 2004-5 & results in a stuck frame. If a reinstall of the OS is a big problem then you can try to get the original codec again by installing a codec pack http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... .cfm/v3_01 or direct from microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

these older RLVs used the generic Microsoft codec Mpeg42. This codec has been changed & fiddled with over the years & some packs/hardware have a version that corrupts the original one thats installed with XP. The player thats integrated into the Fortius software likes the original version. The solution is to install XP again (easy to do if you keep a ghost backup & a nightmare if not). Or you can try to remove any packs & software that may have its own version of Mpeg4 like a digital camera & then install the Microsoft codec pack. Media player uses its own version of the codec.

The more recent RLVs use Xvid & these should work fine.
