Tacx is proud to inform you that our Tacx Smart trainers can now be used with FE-C from ANT+

What does this mean?
If you have a T2180 Vortex Smart or a T2780 Bushido Smart trainer, then now you have the opportunity to update your brake firmware with the FE-C protocol (Fitness Equipment Controllable devices)
FE-C is the first ANT+ open standard for trainers in the industry.

This means if you have one of the trainers mentioned above, you will be able to connect the trainer to 3rd party applications.
We have opened several topics dedicated to applications that will also make use of the FE-C protocol.

How to update?
If you have an iOS device(Iphone 4S, iPad3 or higher) you are now able to update your brake by following these instructions: http://www.tacxdata.com/files/support/U ... ainers.pdf

Q&A:

Q: When will the utility app be available for Android?
A: This is planned end of June 2015

Q: I have an iGenius trainer. Can I also connect to 3rd party applications?
A: No, the iGenius will require new hardware. Tacx is looking into the possibility to offer you a hardware upgrade kit for the iGenius. However this can take some time.

Q: I have an older Bushido unit . Can I upgrade it to a Bushido smart?.
A: This is not possible.

Q: I have an older I-Vortex/Vortex unit . Can I upgrade my vortex/I-Vortex to a Vortex Smart.
A: This is not possible.

Q: How do I connect to 3rd party applications?
A: We have opened several topics dedicated to applications that will also make use of the FE-C protocol. This can be different from application to application and you will have to check the 3rd party applications manual

Q: Will the Tacx applications also support FE-C?
A: The Cycling appwill be the first to have FE-C connections with TTs4 soon to follow. .
The Training app will not be compatible.

Q: I have a Satori Smart. Why is this not listed for a FE-C update?
A: The Satori smart brake can only be controlled via a manual lever. This means that there is no brake adjustment done by the software. There is no reason to update the Satori to FE-C. You can already connect the trainer via the power sensor and the speed/cadence sensor services.
