GPS rides

Post by DeadSetMonkey » Thu Jan 24, 2008 11:39 pm

Is it possible to upload GPS data to the Tacx VR software, then ride that ride virtually on a Fortius VR trainer?

Simple answer is No at this time and possible nver are we able to take GPS info from a personal ride and transfer that into the Tacx Virtual World Riding. I have heard talk of taking the GPS file and being able to ride it in Catalyst mode though?? You may want to do a search for this and see if it possible. I wish you luck and let me know what you find out. I have a garmin 305 with plenty of ride data and it would be nice to do my favorite hill climb or TT on Catalyst. 8)

Tony, go to Ergotools.net, download the program and you an convert GPS or Computrainer files if you like into catalyst programs. You can ride a VR course like you could create with CT, but at least you can ride routes again (after the demise of ownsports).

Thanks William and Wesp. I will give it a try. I have always been one to need visual stimulation, seeing the hours I need to train indoors up in Alaska, so I have never done a ride in Catalyst mode, but maybe if I put a movie in it may take some of the bordom out :)

On a side note William, I have been doing a lot of RLV testing on Multiplyer but have been experiencing some weird stuff like video freezing and Buster being booted off the server 1 hour and today 2:24 into a ride. I know some of this can be internet related, but other weird stuff happened after he lost connection that I beleive are tacx Server related. All in all I am pleased to say we should give RLV a try if you are interested?? I do not know if you even have the free trial anymore? Anyway thanks again.

After getting the GPS ride into Calatlyst, now, is there a way to do our own RL ?
I mean, Time 0, you have your Garmin GPS + camera fixed to your bike.
You do your ride. You convert GPS to catalyst and your press Play of your home made RL video.
Now, if you ride faster than what you did, it's getting mixed up.

Did someone tried to paired the movie with the speed on the fortius ?

Hello, there are some "homemade" RLV's on the market. The quality seems to be not as good as the latest Tacx versions.
A kind of "how to..." is available:

(if you can understand german)

GPS TO TACX CATALYST

Post by fatboy » Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:49 pm

Guy's I'm having problems with gps ride into tacx, wondered if you could help?

I've done a series of rides, which are logged on my Garmin Edge 705, they are in the format .tcx.

I found a tpx to gpx conversion program on the net, but which converts my original file from .tcx to .gpx ok. However when I run ErgoConvert the total climb is 0 and the profile is blank.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
