RLV KML files

Post by Tacx Video Production » Tue Jan 22, 2013 8:32 pm

You have to scroll over the list with your mouse & the name of the ride should pop up in the bottom left corner, simply click the link & the file will download, click that downloaded file & the route will be visible in Google Earth.

Special thanks to the fanatical forum members that spend "all" of their free time making these things...

Awesome job Gbauer13!

Nice work, I can finally upload my data to RWGPS without having to redraw every single course.

Thanks sir!

Not sure if it's included in this list, as the url's have been abbreviated by the forum software, but there's also the map I did of T1957.09 - Training With the Chemical Brothers (aka Franck and Andy) - didn't have anywhere convenient to host it, but it's on gpsie's.com at http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=yoekcmovpvohylxt.

Phil - Feel free to d/l the file, host it with the others and roll it into original post if it's easier...

I started putting most of them on Gpsies too, some seem to already exist but I can't access them. Should have the rest of them up by the weekend anyway...

fantastic, really appreciate this.
Don't care where I ride, is just fun riding different places.
- Don't suppose there's any chance of bundling the whole lot into a single zip please

Haven't really got into doing too many of my own GE rides, but did I read somewhere that if you draw a route in GE sometimes the gradients are a bit weird and you have to smooth them out with other software?

Have these routes been smoothed?
and any chance of a link to the software needed to smooth routes if I make them?

Thanks again.

These simple kml files are for looking at the routes of the various RLVs, I think most of them do not even have grade data. You can not compare these to the actual RLV data that's recorded while filming & then fixed by slowly walking through the routes. You can add very rough grade data to these files by using many of the 3rd party mapping program's, you then need to average it out. But this will only be a vague guess at the real grades. Things like bridges tunnels & cliff side roads don't exist in any of the Landsat data. But if you smooth it out you should be able to tell where the major hills are.

speaking of KML files... I remember that someone had created an Excel sheet with all (or nearly all) RLV videos (even non - TACX films) together with the respective KML file.

I somehow lost that file and I must confess I cannot remember the name of the gentleman who made it...

I'd like to get this sheet again and so maybe he will read this ...

thanks a lot

Andreas

Has anyone got the KML files for the more recent RLVs? I've got quite a few, but my list is quite old now.

Does anyone have the Amstel Gold race GPS (tcx, etc) file ? It seems to be missing from every link.

Some of it is, but in 2013 we filmed the entire race from start to finish with just a short section cut due to rain

OK. To be clear I'm looking for Amstel Gold of video #52 4/4 because my team is doing a virutal race and using that part.
