The Full 639km RDGA 2013 New years Resolution Ride

Post by Tacx Video Production » Mon Dec 31, 2012 11:57 am

New interactive Google map that you can join after sending Martin your email
http://goo.gl/rA6Ut

Image

It scares me as Ive got into the habit of the easy life of riding when I feel like it having quit racing some 10years ago... But I know it will get me back in shape & that can only be a good thing. Im going to start this thing at the start of Part 1 & work my way up to Geneva over the next weeks.

If anyone wants to join this endurance gaining "tour" then post below & we will see if we can have a map plot all our progress. If you already did part 1 then your welcome to ride something else until most of us reach Briancon ...then we can all do the last two parts together.

Does this sound like fun? Its not the big organised ride I hoped, Tacx never quite understood it. But maybe this can work as a kind of Beta test...I feel doing this challenge along with some of you can only result in more motivation to get on the trainer!

Update - Send either me or Martin Vortex below your email address to be added to our event interactive map! http://goo.gl/rA6Ut

Update - You need to be logged into Google to edit & add an icon.

I'm in, in principle at least. Don't know whether I'll have the time to progress very quickly, but I'll do what I can to be part of the experience.

Great stuff, Phil!

Just did part 1/8 of RdGA1 again yesterday, can I count that or have I got to do it again? But yeah, cool idea.

I will ride. I hope to have part 1 next week.

It will be good to try and plan some stages as an MP and try to ride together for part of it, rather like the Tacxtours which have a neutral 10km at the start.

Some group training rides at a reasonable overall pace would be good too.

Happy New Year.

I'll do the whole tour

Nope, actually looking forward to sink my teeth into the whole RDGA pt 2 ride. Will definitely spend a Sunday in the near future :-)

You will need to get 3 of the new Tacx Blu-Ray based rides to complete this epic ride, here is Part 1 & Parts 2 & 3 should be available before you finish part 1 http://www.tacx.com/en/products/films/m ... pes-part-1

You will need a Blu-Ray reader for your PC or know someone with one that you can copy the files off the disk onto a external hard drive....Its about 90GB for the whole thing!

But its by far the best experience you can have just now on an indoor trainer.. Its a bit pricey but its also way over 600km of training.

Last month rode RDGA part 1. But no punishment to do it again followed by the parts 1 and 2. This afternoon did the first 20 km (new years day recovery  )

Next Monday will be good for me as its still a bit hecktick here, it will also give a chance for some of you to order the ride! If some of you want to try it out the download Gorges du Cians is the 1st 28km of the 639km ride & I can give you the link to a replacement avi that's a direct stream copy of the video file on the Blu-Ray (the start of it).

If anyone out there has ideas for interactive map that we can place ourselves on let me know.

I think you can invite people onto a shared Google Maps overlay which might work. Draw the route on and allow us editing rights so we can move our own placeholder along the route.

Cool Martin, Ive sent my email, I can barely wait to get my icon on the map! I guess really we can start any time we like, I will start my bid next week unless I get a pass to get on the trainer in the next days. Sunday Im doing a MTB event out in the real world..But then Im going to try to get it over with as fast as I can....which will be weeks as Im about as unfit as I can get. Going to have to sweat out all the Xmas booze running in my veins also.
