I dont think they have Alt data but you can add that I guess....it will not be the same as a RLV profile & obviously downloading sat height data is going to be packed with major errors (like bridges & tunnels dont exist from outer space).. they should work in the Google earth training thing though.

These are in no way a substitue for the real tts files - GE rides I find very rough and the gradients up / down randomly.

When you have the smoothness of a proper RLV file, why slum it with a GE ride...

Edgarini and I love to play this game and map the rides and look at them all on Google Earth. It is amazing the coverage of the rides available acoross the world.

When the 3 new Alpine rides are placed together they should make quite a sight!

Importing of GPS files (gpx is the most common format) is covered in the manual which is on the install disk as well as online:

http://www.tacx.com/en/service/handleid ... tware3.dot

You can search the forum for discussions on importing GPS files, incluidng smoothing software.

You can import gpx files also. The main thing is you need to be sure that the gpx file actually has embedded altitude data. Depending on how it was created, that data may or may not be present.

Right so how do you go about doing that with the files provided?

Read the Import section of the manual at the link above. There are numerous free gpx reader programs available that will show altitude data. The bikely.com and Garmin connect websites show elevation profiles and allow you to freely download gpx files.

I'm still working on some 3rd party ones, but all TACX RLV's are done.

I've downloaded all the files and renamed them to reflect the Txxxx.xx numbers - I was going to split some of the routes up in their sections (as per the RLVs) that way I can import the route and the HRM file (from TTS) into Sportstracks.

Had a quick look in the .zip archive, and I can't see a map for T1957.09 - Training with the Schlecks... have I just missed it (quite possible, as I'm a dizzy so-and-so) or is it just not available anywhere ?

just looking for the .kmz file, to add mapping to my .HRM exports into Garmin Connect.

To clarify, I was actually referring to Edgarini's .zip file, as refered to in post #1 of this thread - the one with the Google Earth Mapping :D

I'm quite happy with the .tts as it stands (or at least the 8% bushido version!)

( edit: this was actually posted in reply to a comment which has subsequently disappeared :? )

Nasz,

Can you please explain how to do this. It is something I would be very interested in doing. I know how to map full rides not sure how to do sections getting the start and stops correct.

Cheers!

Fairly simple, but laboriously slow.

1. Import whole GPS route of RLV
2. Use TTS simulate ride to where the start and end of the ride segment is visually
3. In GE, use Google Street View to identify the same view.
4. then crop the route in GE
5. Save GE route

Then do it all again for the next segment of the RLV route. For most RLVs where the full ride is split into 3 parts for example, you can just locate the start of each part (the video preview picture shown in TTS when you click on the part in RLV selection).

Well - I was at a loose end yesterday evening, so decided to see if I could come up with the mapping for T1957.09 myself. Looks like I managed it... feel free to roll it into the master file, if you so desire...

It's currently on GPSIES.COM - hopefully behind this link

http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=yoekcmovpvohylxt

Hope it's of some use to someone, after all the help I've had on here, it'd be nice to put something back into the community... :D
