I just got what probably everyone got.... mine coming on Nov. 23:
We are indeed experiencing some technical difficulties with the calibration of the Satori in the Tacx Utility app.
Our software developers are working on a fix for this issue.

A new firmware will be released to solve this issue.
Is it only the Satori Smart that's having this problem? That's whacky.

PS - I have an android tablet, and installed the android TacX app and tried to calibrate with it.
But... wasn't happy with the reading... didn't seem accurate either. Think I've heard that the Android app has always been dodgy, so here I am, stuck in limbo...

The last message I received from them said that they have no ETA on a fix :(

If you have an Android device then you have a simple solution. It has already been mentioned. Install the Tacx Utility app v1.8.13 from here:

Just tried the apk, still the same issue, the app reads 17.1 km/h even though the wheel isn't turning.

Guess we wait for a formal fix.

I have logged a ticket with Tacx support BTW.

You probably tried the wrong version. Need 1.8.13 - at the bottom of the page.

App has updated with a fix. Not been able to check whether it worked yet unfortunately.

looks like our fix has arrived via update to the Utility app. Will test later and report back.

Version numbers for Android (2.0.14) and for iOS (2.0.13) for some reason different:

It is better but seems to be out for me still. Tried another calibration last night and it was on the low end of ok tension wise, had to wind the tension up heaps and still didn't really seem to increase on the scale much.

Anyone else having this happen?

If anyone is still interested -

With the recent update to the Tacx Training App this has fixed the erratic speed issues when it comes to calibration.

However now I have to have the tension so tight on the trainer that with the calibration marker only just inside the bottom marker for acceptable tension my bike tyre is barely 30mm from the trainer roller before I push the leaver down to secure the tyre. To actually achieve a calibration that is in the centre of the acceptable range the roller has to touch the bike tyre before I press the leaver down.

Also tyre pressure is between 105-110 psi.

Have reported to support but just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the issue.

Yeah - I'm sorry Tacx, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't trust the reading I'm getting with the new iOS app.

I've got the drum pretty darn tight against the wheel, and the calibration app is telling me that I'm way off to the left and way too loose.
There's no way I'm tightening the drum up even more - I'm going to pop something... either the trainer or the tire.

And the Android app, which I went back in time to get (Dec 2017?) is being a pain the butt... I can't even get it to find my trainer right now!

I would not over-focus on the tension feedback in any of the Tacx software. It is a guide only and there is nothing magic about being inside the green zone. Basically, you want tension only tight enough to prevent slippage, but not so tight that you are putting undue stress on the brake. As long as you get a successful calibration reading, it will (in theory) properly account for whatever tension level you have in calculating power output readings.

If tension is so tight that it is difficult to lock the brake in place, then it is way too tight.

I also recommend keeping tire pressure fairly high.

Thanks for the feedback - it's definitely appreciated.

Your note "as long as you get a successful calibration reading" - well, that's the problem, I'm way off to the left... not within the recommended window for successful calibration.

Plus... another oddity with the new iOs app - my back wheel is still spinning when it gives me my reading on the app. Doesn't it need to track the wheel all the way to coming to a stop, before it gives my reading?

I think I'm going to delete / reinstall the old android version and try to get that working again... it seemed to work fairly well a week or so ago before it went squirrely recently.

If you get a calibration number, then it is successful regardless of whether you are in the recommended tension range. Not sure if you are getting a calibration number or not.

Okay - probably my last post on this! :)
(hopefully anyway).

I just got the Android app reinstalled and working again. The version referred to earlier in this thread... 1.8 something from December 2017.

Calibrated via the Android app... and it showed me within the recommended range.. a touch to the right (towards "tight").

Switched to my iOs device and the new iOs app... did the calibration... and it showed me (as it has been doing) way out of the recommended range, beyond the too loose" side of the range.

Going to stick with the Android readings until I hear anything new from TacX!

As I said, being out of the range should not be a problem or matter. The actual calibration value you are getting for both the IO and Android are probably the same.
