Fortius Motor Brake

Post by Rutten Leo » Fri Feb 10, 2017 9:00 am

Hello,

I Have some issues with the motor brake of my Fortius trainer.

I'm running the program on macbook using parrallels and windows 7.
Before i had the macbook i ran the program on a windows computer.

With both installations i have had the same problem.

Just after installing the program it ran perfect for a few weeks, after that i have had problems with the motor break.
With both installations i had the latest version of trainer software an the latest hardware updates.

At first the the problem consists of a sudden blocking of the brake while i am riding a program. Out of nothing the motor brake simulates a very steep hill, just for a few seconds. This keeps alternating.

The next time i want to train it's like the motor brake doesn't detect that i start riding.
I have tried quitting the electrics, pulling every cable, nothing works, till out of nothing ( after ca 30 minutes of searching) it works like normal.

Al de components are connected bc i see them as marked in green in the program, so i don't know what the problem can be.

The first time i've had this problem i deliverd al of my equippement to a official tacx dealer, and got it back perfectly working.... for a few weeks...

Can someone tell me what i can do tot resolve the problem bc this aint fun no more...?

Did you check the cable connections?

And you have a very small gab between magnet and sensor?
Otherwise it sounds as a hardware error to me. Unfortunately.

The cadans is displayed correctly.

I also thought that there was an hardware error, though after the official tacx dealer reconfigured my system the last time it worked perfectly for the rest of the season.

So it must be a software problem or so..

I apologize if you have already tried this, but have you taken apart the connector at the end of the cable that joins the powerback unit to the roller unit and checked the 4 wires that are attached inside there? I had exactly the problem you had. It did not show up until I moved the unit. When I opened the connector up (as explained in the link above), I found that 2 of the wires were so loosely held that any movement disconnected them momentarily. When I tighten them up the problem disappeared and I have not had the problem since.

Take care,

Harry

Hello Harry,

Excuse me for misunderstanding the earlier post about de connectors.

I Always assumed that my warranty would expire if i would open the connectors.

I'll try it later on this evening.

Thanks !!

Hello everybody,

Yesturday i overlooked the electrical connections between the motorbrake and the connected unit.

I was shocked to see that the connections were loose, it's really a shame bc with a current of 220 V its possible te get an electrical shortcut and eventually fire...

One of the contact was completely black..

Thanks very much for saving my house
