Firmware Updates

Post by smartbiketrainers » Mon Feb 06, 2017 4:54 pm

Just curious, what is the best way to get notifications of Firmware updates to trainers? I don't usually check the app that often and wanted to know if there is a better way to get notified of new updates and all the features/fixes included.

Thanks!

I wonder how many Neo Firmware updates I have missed as I don't use my Neo with my phone.

Because the Neo only uses Bluetooth for firmware updates and TTS 4 is not Bluetooth capable.

And why Neo only uses bluetooth to update the firmware?

Has anyone tried to connect to Neo (or Flux) via this utility:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tacx\TacxTrainersoftware4\updater\TacxUpdate.exe

Tacx to make tts4 bluetooth compatible.
Or Tacx to provide an application that runs on PC.

The criterion of truth is practice, not official documents or Declaration of support. Need to experiment to find out the possibilities of this utility for the purpose of firmware updates for Neo and Flux.

I tried the Tacx Updater and it doesn't seem to offer any Smart Trainer. No picture of Neo or Flux to click on or double pictures of the others in non-Smart and Smart versions.

I believe to remember someone from Tacx or AIM to say that allowing updates of Smart trainers via TTS is on the to do-list and I surely agree that this would be an improvement.

The effort is appreciated, but when the Tacx Utility app was first introduced, one of the developers made it quite clear that the only way to update the firmware was via the Utility App and that there were no plans to implement ANT+ update functionality.

Yes, they had no such plans. But the reality is: this utility (TacxUpdate.exe) can be used to update the firmware of those smart trainers that have a non-smart counterparts (Flow, Vortex - definitely; Bushido - most likely).

For Genius there is a separate utility - GeniusUpdate.exe. It is compatible with both models (smart and non smart).
