I agree that by putting a heavier load on the CPU, you can make it run hotter. My point is that a healthy PC will not overheat under full load. If the PC is overheating, it will cause all kinds of software failures.

Your CPU should be able to run at 100% all the time without overheating or you have a cooling problem, not a software problem.

Sorry, just a dumb software engineer.

Have you blown the dust bunnies out of your computer?
Are you over-clocking?
Check case and cpu cooling fans.

Microsofts virtual PC for professional and ultimate will run the USB drivers, but believe it or not, it will not run DirectX. VMWare will run the drivers and DirectX.

You can use Fortius if you have 32Bit Windows 7. TTS2 and TTS3 work with 64Bit Windows 7. I think you can install Windows XP in a VMWare virtual machine running on a 64-Bit Windows box and use the 32 bit drivers and Direct X just like you are now. I was in the same position as you are I installed TT...

I know I've sometimes had problems plugging directly into the USB port on the computer, not with the Tacx but external hard drive. However if I used a powered external USB hub the problem went away. For me, the computer USB ports aren't convenient, so I need the hub. But there might be a borderline ...

Are you running this from the DVD? If so, try running it from the hard drive, maybe it's the DVD or drive.

Apparently the 110V upgrade comes with the new TTS software. I sounds like this is much more resource intensive. Is it possible to run the new hardware using the current software? That is, just swap the Power Adapter and Motor Brake, not install the new TTS software? I assume so, I am trying to avoi...

Hello FMM, I am using Tacx Update 2.4 (2005-09-22) and am trying to update the firmware (I have already updated the software to 2.03.0 which appears to be the latest available online. When I select 'Fortius Software Update' the program connects to the Internet and tells me... Fortius Menu: Current v...

hmronnow: This manual is confusing on this so I at first put the Fortius together using the adaptor and used it that way with a 700cc wheel. Then I removed the adaptor and continued to use the same wheel. My sister-in-law tried her bike with a 650cc wheel on my Fortius without the adaptor. So... bot...

I guess I would prefer that Tacx fixed the 110 volts units and offered a reduced price to current users for the new models, or return the unit to Tacx (or local distrib) for update if that is more reasonable. I can run the 220 myself, but then it still only works in that room!

You are right Ironman. You can't race against previous rides with different reductions. This is something I would like to see changed in future versions of the software.

Have you tried wetting the contacts with saliva or electro-gel before starting? Maybe now that it is cooler, you aren't getting good contact until you build up a sweat.

Good luck going up Ramsey hill at 80-90 rpm even in a 39x25! I think the limiting factor is the tire roller interface. The motor seems to be able to provide plenty of resistance, but you can only apply so much torque before the wheel slips. What grade you reach that torque level will vary depending ...

I don't know what is meant by 'vibration'. I experience what I would describe as 'surging'. I think mcorn is right that at higher cadences the ride is smoother. So much depends on the individual settings, weight, gear selection, cadence that it is likely that this 'surging' with start at a different...
