Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Total project time? Well, I surely lost some time finding out which replacement components to use and getting them here (4 e-mails, two trips to the radio shack). But apart from that: - dismantling the casing 1 hour (first time, now 15 minutes) - situation assessment (resistance checks) and getting ...

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

You're absolutely right there, If one has not dealt with this kind of work before, most of the necessary tools have to be bought first anyhow (a digital multimeter; soldering/desoldering equipment; a range of torx bits: there are 3 different sizes used on the powerback alone; a range of small pliers...

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Hi again, I am back with some good news! I de-fried the fortius brake powerback system. For those that may consider to attempt the same, I'll give you a short description here: As intended, I went to the electronical bottom of that problem with the fortius powerback. Ordered 4 new IGBT's (the origin...

Re: fortius brake t1941 not recognised by TTS 4

I guess you are right. There shouldn't be any relation between the two. Anyhow, people just find it difficult to see mere coincidence in events that co-occur, and so do I :-)

Re: fortius brake t1941 not recognised by TTS 4

In reply to myself (for the benefit of others), the problem lay in the data connection cable (the six-lead cable connecting the VR-control unit with the powerback box. The cable had sustained some damage (probably one of our kids stumbled over it and tore one or two leads). Anyhow, I replaced it (ma...

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Howsteepisit- Yes, after measuring the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) in addition to other specific components inside the Powerback unit, I found one that has a direct short to ground, which explains the fuse blowing episode. I now have a full complement of high-failure replacement comp...

fortius brake t1941 not recognised by TTS 4

Hi all, After upgrading my windows XP system to a new Windows 7 laptop, I had to upgrade my Tacx software. I went for the newest TTS4 and ran into problems with the recognition of my fortius t1941 brake. I did not find any posts here on that issue, so I hope somebody out there can help me out. This ...
