Re: Smart S and high cadence

I would simply buy a BLE/ANT+ cadence sensor. When it works, the Flux cadence is not really stable, and tends to get lost at higher rpms. I got a Wahoo Cadence sensor, clipped it on my shoe, and all is fine. I can use it with my Garmin watch in spinning classes, and on the Flux in BLE and ANT+ apps.

Re: Gearing problems

Expecting to drop a bike on a wheel-off trainer without any adjustments to the deraileur is putting the bar quite high. Apart from the really obvious cases of having the wrong shifter/cassette mix, to make the swap between your rear wheel and a trainer seamless (and this is true for any wheel-off tr...

Re: cant change subscription

"In this case you will have to wait for the trial to expire and then use the code you have purchased. Or create a new account on the software and then use the new code." Perfect case of engineering and sales being out of sync. Technically, the app behaves correctly: you already have a subscription, ...

Re: Running TDA with TrainerRoad

Tested, and it works. The only twist is to make sure you're not running TDA in full-screen mode - contrary to Youtube, it hogs the desktop and prevents any other app from running in front of it. Apart from that, it's perfect. The HUD shows the correct data, your speed comes out of the power and the ...

Re: When are workouts uploaded to cloud?

I had a similar issue (and in my case the workout was lost). To simplify things, the app will attempt to upload the results at the end of the training; if for some reason it is unsuccessful (network connection down, Tacx server lost in hyperspace, whatever), the results file stays in a temporary fol...

Re: Tacx Flux S decending

I got a similar answer on a similar question. The mechanical engineer in me says that the flywheel weight has nothing to do with steady-state power (last time I checked, T = I x Alpha, or torque = interia times angular acceleration). But at any rate - yes, the minimum power on the Flux S is relative...

Re: Running TDA with TrainerRoad

The ironic thing is that it would be an argument (for me at least) to subscribe to TDA if I could do that. There are quite a few Zwift users running other apps in parallel. More ways of using the app equals more revenue.

Re: Running TDA with TrainerRoad

I guess the best way of finding out will be for me to test it. The equivalent test in your case would be to use the trainer mode of the Edge 500 (assuming it supports the ANT+ FE-C profile), and use TDA in speed/power/cadence display mode. But it's quite possible that the app developers created the ...

Re: Running TDA with TrainerRoad

Partly answering my own question - the TDA manual shows, in the device setup under a Tacx trainer, separate switches to enable the trainer, speed, power and cadence. Presumably if one selected only speed and power, TDA wouldn't attempt to control the load on the trainer, which would fulfill the requ...

Running TDA with TrainerRoad - Solved

Many TrainerRoad users connect Zwift in parallel, typically on a PC using Bluetooth to connect TR and ANT+ to connect Zwift, letting TR control the trainer, and using Zwift as a "display", i.e. communicating speed and power to the app. You minimize the TR window, and get to see something else than a...

Re: Installing software with fortius

"if you start a free ride or pre-programmed workout wihtout a HR monitor, doesn't TTS start beeping due to HR being out of zone?" If you have not installed an HR sensor, there is no HR displayed at all (it's simply not in the parameter display at the bottom of the screen). Once you install a sensor,...

Re: Tacx Flux S decending

I have also updated to a Flux S - and have a similar issue, which I'd describe as the minimum power floor. being high Spinning in an easy gear (which on my quite ancient rig means 39x21) at 85-90 rpm during warmup, I get power of 130-140W, and it feels like that too; when the trainer warms, this low...

"When you're swearing because of the suddenly missing Internet or because of the suddenly frozen cloud, I'll be Cycling."

True. Although my experience so far (doing trials since November, TDA, Zwift, SufferFest and TrainerRoad) has been really good.

Re: Installing software with fortius

I did a fresh install on a new PC (yesterday), did not end up in an install wizard for the devices. I added the interface first, the brake after, and it never asked me for an HR sensor. I did some tests (starting a video, got it going spinning the brake (no bike on the trainer...), and it did run, w...

Re: New full installer

Fianlly tried it - no success. It generated an error about another install already being in progress, which was weird since this was my first attempt. I ended up using the one on tacx.com/tacx-trainer-software-download/, it's 4.20 (actually loads 4.x and a large set of patches, the latter taking age...

Re: Overall resistance comparison - Flux v i-magic

I did a part of the Sella Ronda this morning - Passa Campolongo and half of Passa Pordoi. Overall data (power, speed, HR) pretty much in line with what it looked like with the iMagic. I did have the impression of higher resistance, but then again my speed was higher at a given cadence/speed, so the ...

Re: New full installer

Very useful info, I have an install to do in the next few days as I sold my old trustworthy iMagic to a friend. I had found an earlier install file, limiting the number of updates required; a direct no-updates installer is even better.

Re: Remove items from 'My Courses'

The bin symbol besides the rides is in the activities listing, not in the list of courses associated with each film, as far as I can see. Deleting an activity does not delete its associated course. I have not found a way to get rid of self-generated courses. I assume they must sit in a folder somewh...
