Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Mcorn- I am still using the original blue Imagic handlebar controller that came with my Fortius back in 2005, so I'm pretty sure the Flow brake won't work, but I would have to do some more research on that to be sure. Anyway, I don't much care at all for the motor speeding the wheel up going downhil...

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Mcorn-

Agreed. So what is the solution? Completely dump all my Fortius hardware and software and upgrade to a Bushido and TTS 4? Or dump Tacx altogether?

What would you suggest?

There's several alternatives out there, but I have a rather large investment in Tacx at this point................

Re: Brake problem

Swann, Mcorn has the right advice in addition to the firmware update.

Make sure your unit is warmed up first or the calibration will most likely be off the mark once you've been cycling for awhile.

Have fun!

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

I just finished reading all the posts, and Harold, thanks for taking the time to document the time you spent repairing/replacing the affected components on the Powerback unit. Very informative, as well. I'm an electronic engineer by profession, so I've had some experience soldering/desoldering, and ...

Re: Want to Buy - Broken Motor brake

Try and post a photo of what you need. I think my motorbrake is still fine, and hesitate to tear it apart just for a plastic endpiece.

Re: Want to Buy - Broken Motor brake

What is the model number of the motorbrake in question?

If it is the older T1941 version, I may be able to help.

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Howsteepisit- Yes, after measuring the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) in addition to other specific components inside the Powerback unit, I found one that has a direct short to ground, which explains the fuse blowing episode. I now have a full complement of high-failure replacement compo...

Re: Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

Greetings- Finally got a reply from Tacx Support. They suggested I contact my dealer who sold me the Fortius back in 2005. Nothing else from them except 'we're sorry' which is better than no reply at all, I guess. Emailed Ochsner, no reply. Emailed another Tacx distributor in Washington state, don't...

I contacted Tacx Customer Support and Oschner via email per your advice. We'll see what happens. Expectations are not high.

Fortius Imagic Powerback replacement unit

The fuse has blown in my T1946.50 Powerback unit, but the T1941 motorbrake roller is fine. Can I replace the Powerback unit with the newer T1949.50 utilizing the T1941, or would I have to replace both? I don't really want to spend the $500.00+ dollars it would take to get my Fortius/Imagic back up a...

Re: Fortius Brake issues - Troubleshooting help requested

The fuse is blown on my Powerback unit. It is a T1946.50, serial # 46050287. It had the latest firmware.

Does Tacx have replacement units available?

Re: Fortius Brake issues - Troubleshooting help requested

Jim- Did you ever get a reply from Tacx on your motorbrake issue? I would be interested to know, since my motorbrake locks up every time I start to pedal. I think it's the Powerback unit, but have no way to confirm. My brake roller is fine when the Powerback is disconnected. Any hints? Anyone? Hello...
